We are pleased to open applications now for our two empowering year-long professional learning experiences for the 2018-19 school year. Whether your focus is on policy or practice, these fellowships provide opportunities for meaningful learning about what matters most to you and your students.
Focused on Policy?: AFT-BTU Teacher Leader Program
How can I advocate for my students and my profession? What is education policy and how does it work? How does policy affect me, my students and my school? Learn about these topics and more in the AFT/BTU Teacher Leader Program. Teacher Leader Fellows:
- Engage with state and local policy makers.
- Learn how to advocate for your students and your profession
- Join a national network of teachers advocating for the policies we need
- Conduct action research in their classrooms and schools to explore the real impact of education policy
- Present their findings and policy recommendations to policymakers and colleagues
This program meets on eight Saturdays during the school year (dates coming soon). $1,500 stipend for program completion. Apply today.
Focused on Practice? The BTU Inquiry Project: Renew, Reinvigorate, Research
In this teacher-led course you can earn graduate credit by conducting action research into a question of practice important to you and your students. Open to ALL BTU members. Read more information and apply. Course begins in early October.
MCIEA: Performance Assessment and a New Vision for Measuring School Quality
BPS and BTU are members of the Massachusetts Consortium for Innovative Education Assessment. We are seeking up to 15 additional schools to work on designing engaging curriculum embedded performance tasks and project based learning. NEW — Enter Lottery for Free BU Course Voucher
The BU Consortium is offering current BPS educators (.5 FTE or higher) a chance to win a free course voucher. Two winners will be drawn to receive a voucher for one four-credit course at BU. Educators should submit their names using this form by June 18. Winners will be notified via email.
