Nuestros Niños Professional Development Program
This program provides K1 educators (teachers and paraprofessionals) that work with multilingual learners the opportunity to earn a 12 credit credential that can be used towards earning a bachelor’s or master’s degree. The program consists of 4 online courses taught across two years and includes in person place-based coaching. The program goals are to improve the teaching of language and literacy in young bilingual children and to enhance parents’ ability to promote their children’s language and literacy development. Participants will obtain an academic certificate in Teaching and Learning of Young Bilingual Children with tuition paid for by project funds. Creating Community and Support in the Classroom: Sept. 2nd and 3rd 10am
This course for paraprofessionals will be offered at two sessions: Sept. 2nd at 10am and Sept. 3rd at 10 am. Come and learn about the “what and why” of the Focus Curriculum. You will also learn how to support children and teachers in the classroom. Please Register Here!
De-escalation Training: September 3rd at 10am & 2pm
This de-escalation training, designed specifically for Boston Public Schools staff, offers practical, easy-to-use strategies grounded in trauma-informed practices. You’ll learn how to recognize the early signs of student escalation, prevent power struggles, stay calm under pressure, and support students through every stage of a behavioral crisis. Bullying Intervention Specialist Training
The Bullying Intervention Specialist Training, held on Tuesday, August 19th and Thursday, August 21st, from 8:30-3:00pm, will explore how to recognize and address bullying, delving into biased-based conduct, cyberbullying, and the BPS reporting and investigation process. Maintaining a Restorative Community Training
The Maintaining a Restorative Community (Tier 2) Training is taking place on Tuesday, August 26th and Wednesday, August 27th, from 8:30-3:00pm at the Intervention Center at 515 Hyde Park Avenue, Hyde Park. This training is for participants who have previously attended the Tier 1 training. The sessions will help develop a shared language and explore whole school cultural practices to ensure we are maintaining a restorative community.
