Degree Completion through BPS Partnerships with Higher Education Institutions: Any BPS employee who is in need of completing their degree and/or earning a Master’s Degree which includes a pathway to licensure can enroll with one of our two higher education partners at an employee discount. They offer an undergraduate degree completion program and a wide variety of graduate degree programming. There are also scholarships available specifically for Black and Latinx educators. - UMass Boston’s Instructional Technology Licensure Virtual Open House April 22, 4:30 p.m.
This program is designed as a cohort model of 10 specialists like yourself. We have a summer 2024 start date. Program runs for one academic year. You will get the latest skills and competencies in the areas of computer technology in education, e-learning design, assistive technology plus an internship (practicum in your own school/district) experience where you will work closely with a colleague(s) on a mutually agreed upon project. - Igniting Minds through Innovation & Challenge
Igniting Minds through Innovation & Challenge is a course hosted by BPS STEM Department and BPS Digital Learning Team. In this hybrid course, participants will engage in various activities around the Design Thinking Process in order to learn how to apply the Design Thinking Process in their own classroom, allowing students to experience hands-on problem based learning that emphasizes UDL practices. This course may be most relevant to school-based staff, including teachers, and librarians. Participants will design and implement an Innovation Challenge with their students and provide a reflection as course deliverable. This course can be located in Vector Solutions. Vector Solutions can be found in your Clever Page or in your Google Apps. - Rules-Based Reading Virtual Edcamp 5/1, 5:30-7:00PM: EdCamps are a unique “unconference” form of PD where those in attendance lead learning for one another according to their interests. On May 1st, the Telescope Network is hosting an Edcamp from 5:30 to 7:00pm on zoom. The theme of this Edcamp is Rules Based Reading. Across the district, so many of us have been trained in various rules based reading programs and are looking for other educators to connect with and share what’s working. Come prepared with a question, idea, or strategy you are working on! Or join us to spark new ideas and meet new people. And spread the word–this is open to BPS and non-BPS participants.
