  • Thinking Through Art Winter Institute
    The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum presents Thinking Through Art, a professional development program for teachers of all subjects in Boston Public Schools proven to improve culturally responsive instruction and foster critical thinking and social-emotional learning. We introduce innovative, student-centered approaches that can be applied directly to the classroom to expand students’ learning horizons. Educators across BPS unite to exchange ideas, gain support, and receive valuable feedback from their peers and Museum educators. Thinking Through Art includes intensive professional development, a visual art curriculum, and free guided Museum visits – including transportation. A $100 materials fee covers all program components, with opportunities to earn Professional Development Points or graduate credits.   • Emergent Literacy Learning Cohort Session 2 Dec 2, 4:30-6:00 PM on Zoom
    The Emergent Literacy Learning Cohort is designed to create a space for educators from across BPS to come together to strengthen our understanding of how to support and assess literacy acquisition for students with multiple disabilities. Session 2 will include peer-led presentations of effective practices for the 5 aspects of emergent literacy. These sessions are open to MD, ABA, II educators. Also open to related service providers, admin, district staff and others interested in joining. This session will meet virtually. Zoom link is shared in the calendar invite.   • Maintaining a Productive Learning Environment Learning Site on 12/4 and 12/5
    The Telescope Network and Boston Teacher Residency Induction Program are co-hosting multi-level Learning Sites on 12/4 and 12/5. The Learning Site focuses on the question, “How do we maintain a safe, productive, and culturally responsive learning environment that builds agency and independence?” Open to all, but recommended for early career educators.

  • Telescope IM Planning Cohort: Wednesday, January 15, 12pm-3pm
    IM Planning Cohort (Launch 1/15): Need a fresh start on your planning routine? Start 2025 off right with this IM Planning Cohort (Grades 3-8). This PD will address the question, “How do we thoughtfully implement the Illustrative Math curriculum to provide all students access to rich mathematical tasks and learning experiences?” A Planning Cohort is a space for educators to collaboratively plan with the support of teacher experts. During the Planning Cohort you will have time to unpack the Illustrative Math curriculum to develop a thoughtful unit plan, pool resources with other teachers in a similar context, and receive feedback from peers and coaches. Earn 1 ALC for work you are already doing!

  • Comprehensive Orton Gillingham & Morphology Courses – January to March 2025
    SLIFE, Sub-Separate, ESL, and Special Education Teachers can apply for OG training through BPS and the Institute for Multi-Sensory Education.
