The Education Department announced Friday it will dispense $6 billion in funding it had frozen after the White House had placed such programs under review, saying it wanted to determine if the programs were pushing a “radical left-wing agenda.”
“The restoration of this critical funding for our public schools is a positive step, but the funds never should have been in jeopardy to begin with,” said Erik Berg, president of the Boston Teachers Union. “We are glad that parents, educators, and others in Boston and across the US raised their voices in support of our schools and made the Trump administration reverse their plan to gut school funding.”
