Dear member,

Hello, BTU members! I’m Krista Magnuson. I’m a BPS parent and education advocate, and for the next month I’ll be working to support BTU-endorsed candidates in the countdown to the November 7 election. We have 32 days before Boston goes to the polls! I hope to meet many of you while we make phone calls, knock on doors, and stand out at polling locations. To that end, here are some opportunities we have this weekend to support our endorsees for at-large city council: Henry Santana, Councilor Julia Mejia, and Councilor Ruthzee Louijeune.

Councilor Julia Mejia, chair of the Boston City Council’s Education Committee, is holding a canvass in Allston-Brighton on Saturday (10/7) afternoon at 2:00 pm. Volunteers will meet at the Honan-Allston Library to get their assignments and knock doors in support of Team Julia. We would love to see you there — please fill out this form to let us know you’re coming!

Also happening this Saturday, candidate Henry Santana and Councilor Ruthzee Louijeune are holding a joint canvass in Mattapan at 10:00 am. You can join them at Almont Park (40 Almont St, Boston, MA 02126) to hear from the candidates and pick up a door-knocking turf. Team Henry has three other canvass opportunities this weekend:

  • with State Rep Chris Worrell in Roxbury on Saturday at 2 pm
  • at the Trotter School in Roxbury on Sunday at 11 am
  • at the Bunker Hill Monument in Charlestown on Sunday at 3 pm
If you want to support Team Santana at any of these eventsplease let us know that you’ll be joining us!

It truly is important to support our endorsed candidates as they work toward November’s election, and the most impactful way to do that is by talking to other voters. In the next 32 days I will be reaching out to see how you can help — I’m looking forward to connecting with you!
