BPS and the BTU are pleased to offer support sessions for National Board candidates to teachers who plan to complete components 1, 2, and 4. Courses for components 2 and 4 will be offered this fall and will follow a hybrid model using in person, self-study and online sessions. Component 2 starts this week! Applications are open for our two empowering year-long professional learning experiences for the 2019-20 school year. Whether your focus is on policy or practice, these fellowships empower and inspire. The deadline is one week away! Priority consideration for early applicants. 
Focused on Policy? AFT-BTU Teacher Leader Program 
How can I advocate for my students and my profession? What is education policy and how does it work? How does policy affect me, my students and my school? Elevate your voice and grow our power in the AFT/BTU Teacher Leader Program. See our flyer for more details or apply by September 16 . Fellowship stipend: $1,500.
Focused on Practice? The BTU Inquiry Project: Renew, Reinvigorate, Research 
Earn graduate credit in this teacher-led course by conducting action research into a question of practice connected to your identity and important to you and your students. Open to ALL BTU members. See our flyer or this FAQ for more information and to apply .
NEW — Student Feedback Working Group 
The BTU seeks additional teachers to serve on a workng group on Student Feedback in the evaluation system. We are especially in need of an Elementary/Special Education teacher, but all are welcome to apply. The group, composed of students, teachers, and BPS administrators will review the first year of implementation, recommend improvements, and plan professional development to support the process in the future. Meetings will be held Monday evenings (9/16, 10/28 are confirmed; future meetings TBD). If you are interested, please email Paul .
NEW — Teacher Leadership Working Group 
This working group of educators and BPS staff will be developing a Teacher Leadership strategy for the district, so educators can have equitable access to a range of dynamic leadership opportunities throughout their careers. In addition to monthly meetings, activities include conducting an inventory of leadership roles, interviewing teacher leader colleagues, conducting focus groups, and sharing the work with your networks and communities. NEW — Professional Learning Advisory Board (PLAB) 
A working group of BPS educators dedicated to improving professional learning for all ill work on advising the Telescope Network, The Teacher Leadership Working Group, and more. See the full job description and meeting dates here , and apply here . Stipend $1,000. Deadline: October 6.

NEW — Program Coordinator and Tutor needed 
Youth and Family Enrichment Services (YoFES) is seeking a Program Coordinator and Tutor to run our after school program for immigrant children during the 2019-2020 academic year. The program serves approximately 50 students and is located at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 525 River Street and Cummins Highway, Mattapan. Conant Fellowship Info Session: September 11 
Join the Harvard Ed. Sixth Annual Social Justice Mediation Institute: October 5-6 & 12-14

The BTU seeks facilitators for Making Planning Manageable a coaching and support opportunity for educators in years 2 through five and beyond. BTU members will develop a sustainable weekly practice for planning standards-aligned units tailored to students, context, and content.
