After parents ripped city school officials over the new bell times, Superintendent Tommy Chang said tonight the final decision will be put off.
“BPS is committed to addressing the input we’ve received and trying to find solutions to concerns that have been raised,”Chang said in a letter posted on the BPS website. “Schedules will be finalized in mid-January. BPS hopes this additional time will allow the district to work through issues that have been shared regarding start and end times.”
Ten public meetings will also be held to solicit more input from parents. (Here is a link to next week’s 10 meetings…)
The move comes after four hours of often angry parent testimony Wednesday night followed by two School Committee members urging the board to “revisit” early start times that are set to take effect next school year, to the applause of parents.
