Residents of Harbor Point came to the Boston School Committee last week trying to block a plan to turn over some of the open space of the Dever-McCormack School property for possible development of a privately run athletic facility.
The plan has been billed by school officials as a model for many more BuildBPS public-private partnerships.
But officials did not notify anyone at the schools, or, apparently, in the neighborhood, before asking the School Committee to give the land to the city agency that would manage the development.
The residents, from the Harbor Point Community Task Force, heard about the plan after it was unveiled in public at the previous School Committee meeting.
