Please join us THIS Thursday, January 19 from 5:30-8 PM at Madison Park High School for “Love Our Students, Cherish Our Schools: A Vision Forward to Create the Schools Our Communities Deserve in 2017.” Join students, parents, BTU members and community members for a Town Hall to:

  • better understand the state of public education both federally and locally
  • learn about a community-drive path forward post-Question 2 and the November 2016 election
  • share your ideas, concerns, and solutions to create the schools our communities deserve

BTU Winter Conference on Saturday, February 4

Please plan to join us on Saturday, February 4 from 9 AM to 3 PM for the third annual BTU Winter Conference, open to all building reps and ALL interested BTU members. This conference will feature various workshops to help better prepare us for the changes approaching in our district and nationwide. Holiday Book Challenge Reminder
Entries for our BTU Holiday Break Reading Challenge have closed! If you haven’t already done so, please remember to bring in your school’s book report submissions by Friday, January 20 for a chance to win 100 books for your school. Please email Jessica with questions.

BTU Parent Advisory Committee/Parent 2 Parent Conference Planning Meeting
Join educators, parents and community members as we meet to plan our next Parent 2 Parent Conference. The Parent 2 Parent Conference, which will take place on Saturday, March 11, creates an opportunity for educators and parents to learn from each other as we strive to create more collaborative relationships between both groups. The meeting will take place next Monday, January 23 at the BTU. Dinner and childcare will be available. Please email Jessica to RSVP.

Jamaica Plain Meet and Greet
Finding it hard to make it to a regular membership meeting? Not to worry, a BTU Regional Meet and Greet is coming to the Jamaica Plain area! Come and share your thoughts and ideas, ask questions and get answers about the important issues in your classrooms and schools. The Meet and Greet will take place on Friday, February 3 from 3-5 PM at Doyle’s Cafe at 3484 Washington Street in JP. We hope to see you all there. See the flyer for more information.

Restorative Justice Learning Community First Session

*NEW* Social Emotional Learning / Safe Schools Committee
Due to interests from our members, we are forming a new BTU organizing committee to bring together members who would like to work across the district and with other educators and community allies to advocate for trauma-sensitive, safe and welcoming schools that address the social-emotional needs of our students.
