We hope all is well. As you know, we had to cancel our district meeting at Brighton High School last week due to the inclement weather. We have yet to reschedule.

You may remember that the BTU, at the request of the system’s Applied Behavioral Analysis Specialists (ABAs), has been trying to organize the ABAs into a unit we can represent. We are now pleased to report that that out of 40 eligible ABA Specialists, 34 cast ballots in the DLR election, and those who voted unanimously supported unionizing.  Shortly, the DLR will certify the ABA Specialists as a new bargaining unit represented by the Boston Teachers Union. Thank you, all ABA’s, for having confidence in the BTU. We look forward to working with you.

We are signing up members below for today’s lobby day and afternoon at the State House to “Campaign for Our Communities.” See sign up below. Email here with questions.
Big Sister
This week is the membership meeting and the deadline for submission of nomination papers. At the membership meeting, we will have a speaker from the Big Sister Association, which is seeking volunteers.

Transfer & Open Posting lists are scheduled to be posted this Friday, March 15, on the BPS website. The transfer list will be posted for 10 school days & then will be taken down. Only permanent BPS teachers are eligible to apply to a maximum of five positions on the transfer list.

The Open Posting list goes up on the same day. It is open to all
internal & external candidates. There is no limit to the
amount of positions to which candidates may apply. The Open Posted positions remain up until filled.

Excess letters for permanent teachers must be sent prior to the
transfer list posting. If you have any questions, please contact Caren Carew or Mike McLaughlin.

The last Student Assignment Hearing and a School Committee votewill be held on Wednesday, March 13 at 5 PM at 26 Court Street (Winter Chambers), Boston. See here for a report on the community meeting at English High School last week. See the plan assignment proposal here.

Note on submissions to the e-bulletin: we are pleased to announce anything and everything school related. We have tried to accommodate every request and will continue to do so. But we have one little request. Many of you submit wonderfully-designed artwork announcing events with relatively small copy embedded within. It is sometimes difficult to read the copy after shrinking the picture to fit the space. So we’d appreciate a word document to go along with the JPEG (preferred) picture (if any). As a substitute for a JPEG, you may want to send a PDF instead. That works better with the email program. Thank you.
