We hope everyone had a great Labor Day. It’s always a good time to remember and recognize the importance of union contributions not just to workers’ rights, but also to past and present fights for social, racial, and economic justice. In light of the DACA decision made by the President yesterday (see more on this below), we know we still have much work to do. And as a union and a part of the greater labor movement, we will step up to fight for what is right.
Reminders: The exact language and details of the new tentative union contract are available to BTU members by signing into your BTU account. There will be two Q&A Forums for BTU Members this week: Wednesday, September 6 and Thursday, September 7 from 4:30-6 PM at the BTU. The Wednesday forum will be followed by a Q and A for ABAs from 6-7 PM.
The ratification vote will take place during our first membership meeting of the year on Wednesday, September 13 at 4:30 PM. Please see the full notice language. Building Reps, please print and post this in your school. Read the summary in plain language of the tentative agreement. This summary is not all-inclusive and is intended to highlight the main points of the agreement.
Date corrections: Please note that in the September issue of the Boston Union Teacher newspaper, a few of the Dates and Deadlines are off by a day. Please see the updated online version of the newspaper for correct dates, and be sure to note that our membership meeting is the *second* (not first) Wednesday of each month. This month, it’s on September 13. We apologize for any inconvenience.
Have a great first day of school!
