We hope you all had an enjoyable long weekend. We are thankful for the service of all of our veterans, particularly our active and retired member-vets and families.

Our Membership Meeting is tonight at 4:30 at the BTU. Please join us! And please bring non-perishable foods or unopened toiletry items — our BTU All-In Food Drive ends tomorrow. See the Membership Meeting agenda online, and don’t forget to sign up for childcare if needed.

Over 50 early career members turned out last week for the first session of our New Teachers Thriving Learning Series to share experiences and learn strategies to avoid the five common pitfalls for new teachers. See upcoming opportunities in the Professional Learning section of the bulletin below! #BTUproud

This Saturday, November 17, is Digitizing Day at the BTU! Stop by anytime between 10 AM and 3 PM. We need a big turnout of people bringing photos and documents to be digitized and added to our new online archive. Portraits, snapshots, information about school events, BTU rallies, protests, cultural celebrations and reunions are all welcome. We are also looking for people who will be filmed describing their experiences in the BTU and/or the BPS. Share your stories and help us build this brand new BTU digital archive! Read more and RSVP: btu.org/digitizingday.

Also this Saturday is BTU EdCamp at the EMK Center! We hope you’ll join us from 8:30 AM to 12 PM. EdCamps are a unique “unconference” form of professional development where those in attendance lead learning for one another according to their interests. Bring your ideas, your questions, your cool tools to share and your laptop. Register today and see our flyer to learn more!

Thanks to everyone who has filled out our Superintendent Survey to share their thoughts on the next head of BPS. Please take a moment to fill it out if you haven’t already! The School Committee will hold a special meeting tonight from 5-7 PM to provide the Search Committee with an opportunity to vote on an RFP to be released for search firm services and to receive an initial presentation on a draft job description from the Search Committee. See a list of all upcoming Superintendent Search Community Listening Sessions.

Thank you to all of our members who knocked on doors, made phone calls, volunteered as poll workers and more for Election Day. Your work paid off! With the exception of the governor’s race, where Jay Gonzalez ran a strong campaign but faced a steep uphill battle, every candidate endorsed by the BTU membership, Executive Board and COPE Committee won their office! See a full list of race outcomes. As you have probably heard, Ballot Questions 2 and 3 passed, but Question 1 for Safe Staffing Limits did not. We are thankful for the hard work of our union brothers and sisters in the Mass Nurses Association on behalf of patients across the state and we know their work will continue nevertheless.

Lastly, BuildBPS Community Sessions for feedback continue. Please see the full list on the BPS website for the remaining opportunities to learn more and share your thoughts.

Have a great week.
