The Office of Human Capital announces the launch of the second cohort of the Boston Public Schools Accelerated Community to Teacher (ACTT) Program as part of an overarching strategy to increase and improve the diversity of exemplary teachers in the district’s teacher pipeline. The program will prepare racially, culturally and linguistically diverse Boston residents OR BPS paraprofessionals, and substitutes to become novice teachers.
The BPS Accelerated Community to Teacher Program (ACTT) is an intensive nine-month program designed to prepare interested residents of the Boston community who hold a Bachelor’s degree and have experience working with children in a classroom setting to become novice teachers with a preliminary license.
The program will be delivered on Saturdays from 9 AM to 3 PM from October 24, 2015 until June 25 2016.
The final application deadline is 11:59 PM on Friday, September 11, 2015. Applications are being reviewed on a rolling basis; however, all decisions will be made in October.

“Science Behind Pixar” Field Trip for Middle Schools
Sign up for a free field trip to the “Science Behind Pixar” exhibit at the Museum of Science! This event was planned by Boston and Cambridge teachers. Google Field Trip Days will be sponsoring completely free field trips for Boston middle schools. Space is limited, but funding is available to cover the cost of bus transportation, museum admission, lunch, and field trip planning materials/workshops. Preference will be given to 8th-grade teachers, but all middle school teachers are encouraged to apply. See here for more information.
