The Boston Teachers Union stands in full solidarity with the graduate student-workers of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Graduate workers, who have launched an union organizing campaign affiliated with UE as the MITGSU. As both students and teachers themselves, Graduate student-workers embody the phrase “teacher working conditions are student learning conditions”. The MITGSU demands, including transparency and protections in the grievance process, are what all workers deserve.
We commend your efforts to organize a union. Organizing a union is the best way to ensure graduate workers and will undoubtedly improve the educational experience for all MIT students and staff. As fellow educator unionists we are proud to support your cause.
